The Sims 2 is a 2005 live-action film based on EA Games' video game of the same name, produced by Mosaic Pictures for EA Films and was distributed by Richard Horwitz Studios. It is a sequel to the 2001 hit The Sims, and features Jason Reitman, in his directorial debut. It received positive reviews from critics and grossed $226 million against a $68 million budget.

The Sims 2 was in the works since 2000 at Mosaic Pictures, near The Sims' release. It was originally stated for a 2004 release date, and was rumored to be worked under The Sims Unleashed.
Thanks to Richard Horwitz Studios buying Mosaic in 2002, it was delayed to 2005, and was announced under The Sims 2.

The Sims 2 received positive reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film reports a 74% approval rating against 129 reviews and an average rating score of 7.12/10, with a critic consensus that reads, "For fans of the original film and the video game, The Sims 2 keeps that charm over from the first Sims movie and the video game into this feature-length adaptation." On Metacritic, the film reports an weighted average rating of 77/100, based on 15 reviews.
